Family & Children's Service (www.fcsnashville.org

For more than 61 years, Family & Children's Service has been helping families mend, by guiding individuals toward more independent and satisfying lives, and finding permanent adoptive homes for special needs children in foster care. As a result, its community-based programs deliver hope and healing through neighborhoods, homes, and schools in 26 Middle Tennessee counties.

F&CS provides individual and family counseling, as well as adoptive services for special needs children. It is a recognized expert in its field, offering a rich variety of healing resources for issues such as domestic violence, substance abuse, depression and anxiety, and the emotional support needs of seniors as they continue to age. Additional services include school-based programs for at-risk children, nationally recognized trauma intervention services for children and their families, an employee assistance program for local private and public companies, and a theatrical production company dealing with life issues facing our school-aged children.

 

The Family Center (www.family-center.net)

The Family Center is a non-profit child abuse prevention agency that serves Maury and surrounding counties in Tennessee. Its goal is to keep families together while keeping children healthy and safe. It serves the community through parent education classes, case management services, public education and a county-wide information referral service known as the Community Resource Connection. It believes that prevention is the key to ending the national nightmare of child abuse and neglect.


United Way

United Way is the driving force behind hundreds of initiatives past and present that provide solutions to Middle Tennessee’s most critical needs. Our goal is to focus on what matters, and what matters is supporting programs in our community that get results and improve lives. United Ways from Metropolitan Nashville, Williamson County, Rutherford County, Sumner County, Robertson County, Dickson County, Wilson County, and Cheatham County support 2-1-1 through funding, volunteers and staff support.

Database Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria

It is the function of 2-1-1 to provide information about and referrals to a broad range of human service agencies. Information and Referral Specialists will provide as much information as possible to individuals who call to enable them to make an informed decision about which of the available resources may meet their needs. These criteria are to be reviewed and/or changed yearly based on community need.
 

Agencies / Programs Eligible for Inclusion

  • Nonprofit agencies which provide community services.
  • Governmental (public) agencies which provide social, educational or health services.
  • Self-help support groups
  • Community and civic advocacy organizations.
  • Professional organizations.
  • Hospitals, health clinics, personal and intermediate care homes
  • Toll-free telephone services if they can be accessed by residents and if they offer a social, health or community service.
  • Organizations located out of the geographic service area which offer services not provided locally, but which are available to residents of the service area and which otherwise meet the inclusion criteria.
  • For-profit, proprietary human service agencies which are providing services not adequately provided by the nonprofit sector or which offer free or sliding-scale services.
  • For-profit organizations, offering services parallel to a non-profit service, to which clients are referred and fees paid by a government agency.
  • Organizations offering mental health and/or substance abuse treatment services (either for-profit or nonprofit)
  • Agencies that provide prenatal, pediatric, maternal, and/or postpartum health care. Theses may be either for-profit or nonprofit as long as they are free, accept TennCare, or have sliding-scale or flexible fee payments.
  • Pregnancy/Parenting support agencies which provide case management, maternal/infant supplies or advocacy, pregnancy testing, classes, and support groups.
  • Agencies that provide services for infants and children with developmental delay/disabilities.
  • Agencies that offer educational, testing, or counseling services for Family Planning, HIV/AIDS, STDs, or TB.
  • Hotlines and help lines including comprehensive and specialized including domestic violence, crisis Intervention, disability, and social service information and referral.
  • Faith based organizations with human services offered to the general public, not restricted to their own membership or religious affiliation.
  • Agencies or organizations that have been in existence less than six months and affiliated with a large well-known national organization or provide a unique, much needed service.**
     

Agencies/programs NOT Eligible for Inclusion

  • Private, for-profit service providers unless they meet one or more of the specific Inclusion criteria listed above.
  • Services which are available only to a certain group or affiliation.
  • Churches that offer no special community based service components or require service attendance or church membership to qualify.
  • Individual, for-profit child care facilities.
  • Schools and vocational training programs other than those that are public or nonprofit.
  • Any organization which promotes or delivers illegal services.
  • Agencies or organizations that have been in existence less than six months. (see above for exception)**
  • Advocate agencies with a mission statement in conflict with that of the Crisis Center 2-1-1
     

Policies for Removal of Agencies/Programs

  • Failure to adhere to inclusion criteria and guidelines.
  • Documented history of poor customer service.
  • Failure to update its records upon request by Crisis Center 211
  • No longer providing service to the community.
  • Request by agency Director to be removed with explanation.

These policies do not prohibit the inclusion of any programs that target services based on age, gender, health, disability, or other characteristics designed to meet the special needs of targeted populations.

A listing in Crisis Center 2-1-1 database does not constitute endorsement of, or liability for, any agency’s programs or services. Crisis Center 2-1-1 does not guarantee client referrals to any agencies listed in the database.
